June 18, 1998 - A greater interest in St. Lucia is being shown by a number of tour operators and airline companies, thus increasing the number of flight services to the island.  The Ministry of Tourism and the St. Lucia Tourist Board have recently received several proposals from various companies and airlines.  The proposals include requests for an increase in the number of weekly flights to St. Lucia from the Canadian touring company - Key Tours as well as Air Jamaica, which has proposed increased flight service from the U.S.

The Ministry of Tourism has also accepted Virgin Airlines offer to introduce a scheduled flight out of the U.K. in September.  The Ministry and the Tourist Board are undertaking a survey of the island's current air services and available hotel space, in light of the increasing interest.  The hope is that this will allow for any adjustments to achieve maximum visitor accommodation and comfort.
