By Janelle Charles

September 3, 1998 - A call has come from the Principal of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Dr. George Forde for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) results to be made available by the middle of August.  He says the proposal will be put before the next meeting of Education Ministers.

Dr. Forde’s concern comes on the heels of what is being described as a very late receipt of this year’s CXC results.  "CXC ought to be mandated to provide Secondary School results by the middle of August," Forde said in an interview with the GIS.  He is of the view that having mandated CXC to expedite the processing of results, the necessary resources must be provided to the Council to facilitate the task.

Dr. Forde notes that a number of regional tertiary institution have implemented the semester system and that it is not practical to offer a semester which begins towards the end of September.

Letters of Acceptance for students who applied to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College will be issued on Tuesday September 8.  On the 10th of September registration will take place for students of the A’level College, and on the 11th of September for students in the Division of Agriculture and in the Department of Health Sciences. The 14th of September is the registration date for the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies.

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College will open its doors to first year student by Tuesday September 15, 1998.
