Janelle Charles

August 17, 1998 - handshg.gif (11494 bytes)Government has been providing updates on two major Canadian funded projects in the area of education and legal reform, which will be implemented here shortly. Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony says he is pleased with the amount of interest displayed by Canada in helping to reform St. Lucia’s judicial processes. "What better country to assist us than Canada because we have a shared legal tradition."

St. Lucia is soon to enact aspects of an Education Model Bill for the Eastern Caribbean, which was drafted by the University of the West Indies and funded in part by Canada. Prime Minister Anthony told the visiting Secretary of State of Canada for the Caribbean and Africa, Hon. David Kilgour, that the Ministry of Education would soon be engaged in a number of consultations on that bill.

"I had the pleasure while serving at the University of the West Indies, to draft an education model bill for the Eastern Caribbean (which was funded by Canada). And I’m very happy to report that St. Lucia is on it’s way to enacting that bill, said Prime Minister Anthony."
