by Rose Marie Harris

August 1, 1997 - On Sunday 27th July, 1997, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony, kept an election pledge and, in the process, brought tremendous joy to the hearts of at least three Vieux - Fort families.
Dr. Anthony, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for Vieux- Fort South, had during his campaign promised to assist three individuals, by providing wheel chairs for them.

First to receive his wheelchair was Nelson Harrison of Calvary Hill, an elderly double amputee. Next was Eunolsa Clarke of Westhall Group, a single amputee who is also paralyzed from his waist down.
Following these two presentations, the Prime Minister journeyed to La Tourney, where he presented the third wheelchair to eight year old Shanna Gizelle Jn Pierre, an invalid.

During the presentations, the District Representative expressed his pleasure not only at being able to keep his election promises, but more significantly because the gifts brought a measure of comfort and relief to the recipients.

Accompanying Dr. Anthony to the presentations, were members of the Vieux - Fort South Constituency group.
