August 14, 1997 - Over 100 lawn tennis players from around the world gathered at the St. Lucia Racquet Club on the Club St. Lucia grounds to commemorate the conclusion of an exciting tournament featuring some of the best personalities in today's world of junior tennis.

Part sponsor, Mr. Dunstan Du Boulay, of Du Boulay's Bottling Company Limited, summed up the action packed week of tennis as a tournament characterized by some truly outstanding performances.

Mr. Du Boulay also indicated that his company will try to lure one of the big names in senior international lawn tennis to our shores, come next year, when the tournament will celebrate its 15th birthday.

Past president of the OECS lawn tennis association, Acting Chief Justice Dennis Byron referred to the Junior Co-Co Cola Tournament as the leading item on the tennis itinerary in the region.

The government of St. Lucia was doubly represented in the persons of Minister for Tourism, Hon. Philip Pierre and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education youth and Sports, Hon. Kenneth John.

Recognizing that Club St. Lucia had hosted all the participants free of charge and cognizant of Du Boulay's Bottling Company's major role in keeping the tournament alive, the government officials indicated their intentions to contribute in whatever way possible to ensure the continued success of the championship.
