August 14, 1997 - Minister responsible for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Phillip J. Pierre last week concluded negotiations with officials of Air Liberte, with a view to extending current flight arrangements with the Airline.

As a result of the Minister's deliberations Air Liberte has agreed to extend its weekly direct flight from France to Saint Lucia until April 1998. This was previously due to expire in October 1997.

This new agreement will significantly increase Saint Lucia's visibility in France and provide a welcome increase of French nationals visiting here.

The Minister welcome Air Liberte's decision to increase its airlift to St. Lucia. He says the French islands are a crucial component to the future well being of St. Lucia's Tourist Industry.
