The signs and symptoms of the influenza/flu include:

  • headache
  • fever
  • runny nose
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • joint pains
  •  vomiting and diarrhea may be present

To protect yourself and others, practice general preventive measures for flu:

  • Avoid close contact with people who appear to have fever and cough.
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water frequently and thoroughly.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose the tissue responsibly.
  • Practice good health habits

If you become ill with flu-like symptoms inform family or friends about your illness and seek medical attention.

Contact a healthcare provider and report your symptoms before travelling to see them.
