The speedy flow of timely and accurate information, especially to the 6 million people, making up the 14 member state community is a high priority.

Arrangements that are in keeping with international standards, have been made for the print and electronic media at the National Insurance Building at the Castries Waterfront - the summit’s main conference site.

The telecommunications giant along with the Government Information Service and the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, are collaborating to provide extensive coverage of the summit. The opening ceremony, the closing news conference and the main cultural event will all be carried live.

Gary Allen – CBU "Our live coverage will also be extended to our news cast, which on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will also be live in St. Lucia."

The local media has been engaged in a number of preparatory exercises ahead of the June 30 conference. The CARICOM Secretariat recently conducted a media clinic to update media persons on the latest developments within the community.

Leonard Robertson – CARICOM Secretariat, "We feel there’s a responsibility on the part of the Secretariat, to give the media a solid background into what is being discussed, why it is being discussed, where we are in the various areas that we will be discussing at the heads of Government Conference."

The CARICOM Secretariat has given its commitment to facilitate the smooth flow of information from the summit by means of daily press briefings which will be hosted by regional Prime Ministers and a major press conference at the end of the five day summit.
